Cary, NC – August 20, 2009 – Lori Bush, candidate for the District A seat on the Cary Town Council, will be meeting with voters at the 33rd annual Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts festival in downtown Cary this Saturday, August 22 ( Lori will also attend the Triangle Community Coalition’s annual Political Pig Pickin’ on August 27 at the Brier Creek Country Club (
“I have worked for the community I love as a citizen advocate, having served as past president of my homeowners’ association and on a number of boards and commissions in Cary and Wake County. I always look forward to talking with the people of Cary and our region to learn what is important to them. Cary’s citizens need an approachable representative with a passion for listening and advocating for them on the Cary Town Council, and I look forward to the opportunity to fill that role.”
A resident of Cary for the last 12 years, Lori Bush has participated in numerous citizens’ organizations, as well as on the boards of a number of non-profits.  Her work as Chair of the Cary Task Force for Issue Advisory Groups provided a framework and process for Cary citizens to meet and form Town-sanctioned groups, expanding, strengthening and improving citizen participation in local government and providing greater visibility of citizen issues to Town Council.
“I believe that our citizens are our greatest asset in Cary, and what I hear from the people of our community is that they care about growth, roads and schools, and they want to be engaged and involved,” Lori said. “I look forward to listening to what our community has to say at Cary’s Lazy Daze festival, and sharing my ideas about how to improve our Town government at the Triangle Community Coalition Pig Pickin’.”
Lori and her husband Greg have two children in the Wake County public schools, and she is an active participant in her community.  She has served on Cary‘s Planning and Zoning Board for 3 years, led the Cary Task Force for Issue Advisory Groups, and currently serves on Cary‘s Site Design Focus Group.  She was president of the Preston Village Homeowners Association, served as chair of the Wake County Information Technology Advisory Committee, a Trustee on the Board of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, secretary of the National Cyber Security Alliance and Executive Board member of the National Institute of Urban Search and Rescue.  She is currently employed by Cisco Systems, Inc. as a solutions business manager creating technology solutions for education.
