We went to Biaggi's recently with some friends of ours. We have been there many times because it is one of our favorite places. We've always had a pleasant experience there, except for when Nels sat down at our table uninvited (That's a joke, Nels). At this most recent visit I ordered the Farfalle Alfredo. This is my favorite dish and the reason I go there, along with the focaccia bread. Very seldom have I strayed from this dish.

When it was served at our most recent visit, the pasta was tough & chewy and the whole dish was barely warm. I sampled four or five different spots to see if it was the same all over. It was. I know how the dish is supposed to be served from having it so many times. I told our server who brought a new dish pretty quickly. It was exactly the same as the first - tough, chewy pasta and barely warm. I cannot believe that someone did not at least make sure it was served hot! Was it the same exact dish I was served the first time? Seemed like it. The server asked me if I wanted to order something else. I didn't because I was looking forward to the Farfalle Alfredo, but I ordered the Lasagna Tradizionale. It was actually pretty good.

Now after a patron has sent dinner back to the kitchen twice on the same visit, what do you think should happen?

Laurie-
It is my understanding that farfalle is traditionally served at room temp. However, if a patron requests a hot dish, and sends it back, one would think that they'd actually prepare it as requested.

As far as the tough, chewy pasta...I'd probably have sent a note back to the kitchen informing the chef that there's a fine line between al dente and raw, and that he's on the wrong side of it.

That's a shame that your dinner didn't turn out so well. I'll bet the cook doesn't last long!

Try this recipe instead (WAY better than alfredo):

I'm glad I don't eat where you do. I shouldn't have to ask that a hot dish be served hot. As I said, I've had this particular dish many times and know how it is supposed to be served. It's got chicken and Italian ham in it. It should be kept hot and served hot. Barely warm is just inviting illness.

I didn't realize your meal had chicken in it. You're absolutely right that it should have been served hot, the first time. I've had to report several restaurants to the county health department for unsanitary conditions, particularly food that hasn't been kept/served warm. Unfortunately, I don't think they have a web form to report such issues yet, but hopefully they'll have one up soon.

BTW, you didn't have to pay for your meal, did you?

I was charged for the meal. (I made sure I wasn't charged for three meals.) I wasn't offered a complimentary dessert or a coupon for a free appetizer at my next (yeah, right) visit. The server said she was sorry, but the manager didn't come over to the table. Isn't everyone from the manager on down trained on what to do in such a situation?

Any restaurant manager should know better than this.

Oh my goodness! That is absolutely terrible! Have you ever used planet feedback to get compliments/complaints/suggestions to different companies?

Of course, if you were feeling really nasty, I suppose you could dispute the charges on your credit card.

When I, the Barbaras and Mr. and Mrs. Wuptdo had problems with Stonewood, I sent an email to their corporate headquarters. It reaffirmed to me that crap rolls down hill very fast. I think Biaggi's corporate HQ would be mortified to hear that a guest had been treated this poorly, and that the guest had taken the time to post the poor review on a local political website that averages over a thousand local hits a day.

Laurie,

Here's a BIG HINT, SIC KELLY ON THEM. By the time she is done you'll have a store manager groveling at your feet.

I'm afraid to ask what she does and maybe it is best I don't know. All I am sure of is that the results are positively stunning!

John..I swear all I did was send an email to the CEO of Stonewood. That's it. When the CEO called we had a very long conversation. But it really boils down to they do want to to a good job, and they dont want a bad reputation in a city.
