Brightleaf Square in Durham is another oasis of old, restored buildings - lots of brick, timbers and many floral displays. Most of the restaurants have outdoor as well as indoor dining. We often eat in Pop's, an Italian Tratorria but it was closed today. So instead we exerimented with Champas a new Brasilian Curascia (spelling?). Wonderful salad bar and bread, fejoada (the national dish of Brasil) was on the hot buffet as was a salmon with passion fruit (Marcia had the salmon but I'm not sure yet aout the passion part.) The fejoada beats pork and beans any day. I tried the rotisserie chicken and sausage -great. The service was warm, the bathrooms clean and the ambience great. They have a big wine cellar. The price for a dinner sized lunch w/o wine was $27 + tip. This was a much better experience, especially regarding ambience and service than Cary's similar retaurant in MacGregor Village.
