Since the 2005 campaign is underway, as you receive mailings, invitations to fundraisers, campaign handouts etc... send me a copy and I'll post them (after scanning them in) here for all to share. If you get it electronically, you can simply email a copy to me. Otherwise, send the material to:
Don Hyatt
101 Parkrise Court
Cary, NC 27519
I'll think of some sort of little trinket for all those that contribute! woo hoo!!!

I've got one for Julie Robison I can pass along if you don't have it already.
Should we post what we're sending here so that we don't all send the same stuff?

BTW, it never ceases to amaze me how presumptuous some fundraisers can be (not limited to political, either).
Here are your choices:
I can attend and will donate this much.
I can't attend and will donate this much.
Who says I want to donate at all? And how the $%^&* did I end up on your mailing list?!
I'm not lashing out at anyone in particular, but hopefully you guys who are running for office will consider that as you send out invites to fundraisers. Maybe add a line for, "I'm unable to contribute money, but would be more than happy to donate my time." You might also consider adding a line for, "leave me the hell alone and save yourself some money on postage in the future."

charchar,
Thanks and good idea about letting me know what's on its way so people don't double up on stuff :-) Don't have one from Julie and I'd be a little surprised if I was sent one directly.

Hey Don, I got the same invite from Bill & Vickie Maxwell for Julie's fundraiser on July 20th. Char, I will forward it to Don for inclusion on this site unless you have sent it already. You should see who the contributing sponsors are! 8O
Hey Wup, the Maxwell's are your neighbors in Wessex. You can just walk over and make your contribution. B-)
I am keeping my powder dry until all of the candidates have filed by Aug. 5th.

Yeah, I hear some of them are names that you might recognize. Heck, I could have scanned it in and sent it to Hyatt that way.

John:
You are cordially invited
To a fundraiser
for the Town of Cary
Beginning now and continuing ad infinitum
Suggested contributions:
$264/year for utility customers
14% tax increase for property owners
Please RSVP by July 16:
__ I will attend with a wad of cash
__ I will attend and whine that we should increase debt because I want a dog park, a golf course and limousines to replace the CTran busses
__ I will attend, and by the way, I'm bringing with me an angry mob of people from New Hill and Rono too
__ Sorry, I can't attend because I am busy celebrating Cary, but my check is in the mail.
:-D

Brent, my feelings are seriously hurt! I think me and Cathy deserve to be included on the short list.

Hmm, apparently one of the possible responses got cut off. Sorry 'bout that, bobo:
__ Sorry, I can't attend, but I've forwarded my invitation to bobo and Cathy and they've assured me that they'll attend and make a "contribution".

Will we be allowed to bring our "contribution" in a brown paper bag? Will there be a handy can of air freshner available? Actually, on second thought, how about we bring our "contribution" in a dump truck and you provide the shovels? Don't want Jennifer to feel left out!

Does anyone know or have every heard of the "Triangle Community Coalition?"
http://www.tricc.org/
Their website and some of the posting were in the "grey" zone for me. Tired of finding "shell" groups that are nothing more than covers for either Republican or Democratic parties.
Your input is appreciated.

They have been around quite awhile. It's headed up by Chris Sinclair who has used a couple of different monikers here on CP and visits regularly. I'm sure he'll run across this and be ready to chime in. Most of TRICC's membership is composed of builders, developers, and realtors. They have been a staunch opponent of impact fees and overvbearing municipal regulations and their blog is "growthmatters.org". They sponser the "Political Pig Pickin'" each election year (next Thurs 10/19 at Brier Creek Country Club btw) which is often a bellweather of conservative support. They also run regular lunchtime seminars with speakers on issues related to development, growth, "smart growth" etc...
