As many of you may know, my wife Julea is pregnant with our second child. The due date is mid-September. Having a baby less then a month before the Oct 11th makes it very impractical for me to be a candidate for the At-large council race. Especially if there were any complications with the pregnancy.
It is important for me to be with my wife and our 3-year-old son as we bring (Carter, Clinton, Bill… name not decided yet) into the world. For me to drop everything into Julea’s lap would be extraordinarily selfish and unfair.
While I won’t be running for office this year, I am sure and hopeful that one day soon there will be an opportunity for people to vote for/against me.
I thank you for the time you already serve on the P & Z.
Best wishes for your future and to you and your wife for that perfect gift from God, a healthy baby.

Carter???? Clinton???
How about George, Karl ;-), Ronald, Michael (ooh! that's a good Biblical name too! ), or maybe even Ken instead? :-D :-D
Just pickin' Matt. Sorry to hear you won't be running but I understand and respect your reasons.

Matt-
I bow down to any woman who is 8 months pregnant in August! I imagine that your darling wife was more than a touch miserable in all the heat of late.
Good luck, God bless, and LOTS of baby dust!!!
Shall we start a pool? Any guesses on birthdate/weight?

I was watching this new video about Al Franken, and it occured to me how much MattD looks like Al.

You be the judge. (OK, more like Matt's Dad) Oh, and check this new promotion for Al's upcoming book.

I wonder if he will run as Al Franken or Stuart Smalley? "Stuart Saves his Family" is actual pretty funny, especially if you or a member of your family is a member of a 12-step program. One of my favorite lines: "Stuart telling us on his television show that he has just received a sweater that one Melissa D. knitted for him. Melissa is a recovering sex addict and knitting the sweater "gave her something to do with her hands."
