CARY KICKS OFF OPERATION SAFE SCHOOL ZONE
CARY, NC – It’s back to school for the Town of Cary Police Department as it increases visibility around local schools and focuses on school zone enforcement as children return to class.* Over the next several weeks, officers will be conducting special school zone enforcement activities to help increase safety by combating speeding, looking for proper occupant restraint, and paying close attention to proper parking around schools.
“As school gets underway, our goal is to reduce the potential for traffic related injuries,” said Sergeant Joe Clifton. “We want drivers to pay special attention to the school zone times and speed limits posted along their route, and we want children and parents to be keenly aware of their surroundings, especially if going to a new school.”*
During this campaign, Cary Police Officers will utilize both marked and unmarked police cars, police motorcycles, and a speed detection trailer to aid in their enforcement efforts.***
