The Triangle Community Coalition (Search) (http://tricc.org/) (formerly headed by CP member 'thebalancer' - MIA BTW), held their Annual Pig Picking & Straw Poll earlier tonight at Brier Creek Country Club. There were a couple of no-shows and at least one surprise. District 'C' candidate John Harvilla didn't make an appearance nor did District 'A' candidate Tom McCuistion. Candidates were allowed only 90 secs to pontificate so speeches were short and sweet. (or maybe sweet because they were short).
In any event Ed Yerha acquitted himself well considering the crowd and the fact that he's a first time candidate. Straw poll had him losing to incumbent Jennifer Robison 22-15. It's unknown if any votes were registered for McCuiston. Jack Smith defeated John Harvilla in a "landslide" according to the announcer. Exact figures were not provided.
The surprise of the night however was in the Robison - Curran contest. At a venue where conventional wisdom would have Curran the clear victor, Ms. Robison earned an even split. Though the poll was a draw, this is clearly a victory for the Robison campaign and draws into question the widely held belief that the October 11th vote will be to close to call.
