At long last, this year's election cycle is almost over. Who will win, who will lose, will our taxes go up and services go down, or just the opposite, and does anyone really care? Will Cary's future be a capitalist paradice or a socialist dream -- these were the choices that Cary was presented with.

So if you are bored and waiting by the computer, you may want to check this out and click on the election of your choice, to remember your favorite past local election:

See anything strange at the polling places, or just to report your number at the polling place, do it here.

May the God of your choice, save us all!

As of 10:00 p.m. tonight it looks as if all incumbents will retain their seats. The Cary At-Large seat appears to be the only close race. :(

I guess the people of Cary are satisfied with their current leadership and the direction the current CTC is paving for the TOC. I'm a little shocked, but what can I say - the people have spoken! #-o

This person has NOT spoken, at least not in the way that counts most, at the polls. Don't get me wrong, I went to the polls to vote, as I do in every election. It wasn't that I didn't attempt to take part in a right for which I spent years in the military defending. No, instead, that right was stripped from me on the basis that I live in an ETJ, or DT (Disputed Territory), and I could not receive a ballot with which to vote. Does annexation, and the Cary version of Manifest Destiny affect me? ABSOLUTELY! But the council incumbents have once again protected and insulated themselves from those of us with a point of view not in synch with the chain saw. It should be illegal, and there are a few who are trying to restore our rights so it will be, but the truth be told, apathy and ignorance are currently the best political tools going in Cary, and are being wielded to great effect. That was the outcome of this election, and we are the worse for it.

Daryl,
I realize this may be a little hard to accept but you're blaming the wrong the wrong people here. Cary couldn't allow you to vote even if they wanted to. Only the NC Legislature has the power to provide you a vote on Cary-related issues - when you live in the ETJ. I agree you should certainly have a voice in this so please pursue it with your state representatives. Asking your County Commissioners to lobby on your behalf would probably also be a good idea. Cary *could* put this issue on their lobbying agenda but I seriously doubt it would ever happen.

Somehow, being told to call the auto club to report being run over by a truck, when I clearly saw the driver, doesn't exactly solve my present situation. Not that calling the auto club isn't worth while, but I think they just seem to be more interested in preparing trip tickets for vacationing representatives.....

I repeat:

Don H,

Since one of the twelve annexation reform Bills introduced last session was an attempt to give property owners in ETJ areas the right to vote in at least ONE Council race before they can be annexed, and the League of Municipalities kept that Bill, and all others to reform annexation, from being heard or going to a vote, (bragging that they did such) and the Town of Cary pays it's dues to the League and has of late supported the lobbying efforts of the NCLM against equitable annexation law, then the Town of Cary IS, at the very least, partly to blame for the fact that DarylB could not vote.
