I'll be crass and toot my own horn here because.......
I think the article is important and deserves notice, in case all of you missed it in Monday's N&O:

Not much that I said was quoted, but....

We're absolutely and totally agreed on this. And thank you for your stand for owners rights to property. That this should even be a topic of concern to anyone owning property should be an indictment of shame for those who would espouse otherwise.

Do I need even mention here how this topic relates with that of forced annexation?

Hankins sure seems defensive over the Kelo case doesn't he?

Thanks. I see this as a very important battle to win.

It's almost funny how Ellis seems to be unaware of how defensive his responses appear to most people. I believe he thinks 'most people' are not intelligent enough to see through his 'superior propaganda intellectualism'.

Hankins was "on the team" for the National League of Cities when they wrote their Friend of the Court brief and submitted it on behalf of New London, CT. It is troubling to realize that the League of Cities, nationally and on the State Leagues level, has consistently taken an anti-property rights stand on several issues.
Who's agenda are the Leagues really working to advance??

You have a lot of information that's new to me (ie the friend of the court briefs) that I'd love to read, and to see exposed so the vale is lifted on these folks who are trying to tell us a pig is not a pig. Making them explain what they were doing could be a good start toward a change in direction. My hat is off to you for your work on this topic.

DarylB,

Here is where you can find all of the related filings for the Kelo v New London case, including all "friend of the court" briefs filed in support of the city of New London. Here you can read the National League of Cities opinion about property rights.
Also note which side the American Planning Association took.
