JOHNSON NAMED TOWN OF CARY EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
CARY , NC – With 28 years of experience and an outstanding commitment to service, Andy Johnson has been named the Town of Cary ’s 2005 Employee of the Year. The announcement was made today at the Town’s Annual Employee Recognition Luncheon at the Herb Young Community Center in Cary, during which dozens of staff were also recognized for reaching years of service milestones.
Johnson, 49, currently serves as Engineering Field Services Manager in the Engineering Department and was chosen from a field of 14 excellent nominees from the Town’s 1,060 employees. He was honored with a plaque and a $1,000 savings bond.
"We’re very proud of Andy’s accomplishments and his dedication to servicing the Town and our citizens,” said Town Manager Bill Coleman. “Like so many of this year’s finalists, Andy exemplifies the type of quality employee we strive to attract and retain in the Town of Cary .”
Most recently, Johnson led the Town Hall Expansion construction project and is described by colleagues as having a “casual, calm and friendly approach that evokes productive solutions in challenging situations.” In addition to his work with the Town, Johnson spends time with his wife and two children. He also coaches little league baseball and is very active in his church.
The Town of Cary ’s Employee of the Year program was established in 1989 to recognize employees who consistently perform well beyond what the job description requires. Nominees are consistently courteous and helpful to others, and they strive to improve themselves and participate in the community. Many nominations included accolades from Cary citizens.
