While we have witnessed the spectacle of hanging/pregnant, and dimpled chads in recent years, and the attempts to "steal elections" has been raised in accusation from coast to coast, the Wake Board of Elections has run a very tidy ship. They are now in the process of examining newer voting machines. What would be the safer bet, to just keep a low profile and continue to use the present machines, which by all accounts work reasonably well, or to stick your neck out and to try for something that serves to make the election process ever easier and more beneficial to all of us, the voting public? My hat is tipped to these folks, who have served to do just that, knowing that politics is one of the areas where even a win-win situation can result in pulling back a bloody stump. Anyway, I say "Good work"!

The Wake Board of Elections indeed does a wonderful (and generally thankless) job. The voting machine crap is a state mandate -- Wake already has its house in order.

Although she's not an elected official, but rather a BoE staff person, Angela Pace at Wake County BoE exemplifies "excellent public servant". My hat is especially off to her.
