Hiya Folks,

Just wanted to give you the low down of what we discussed in a informal meeting at my home. People attending where Karen Griffin, Cathy Heath, and Mike Dodson. Much was discussed, but I will narrow it down to a few bullets.

1) Based on data we found in the budget book, we recommend that the City budget for a "special" census in FY05-06. The last special census generated over 4 millions dollars in additional revenue.

2) Water Conversation - we think the town should still make an effort to make water conversation a priority, but they could loosen some of the current restrictions.

3) Continue to look at ways the TOC could privatized any of its services; (i.e., if the service is available in the phone book.....)

4) Keep any revenue earned in the department in which it was earned; i.e., look very closely on money that is transfered from one department to pay for something in another department.

5) Recommend that the town commence an external audit. We hope that this audit might find some funds that might be available to use for budget shortfalls and ensure that the people's money is properly accounted for.

Recommendation and comments?

Mike,

These are some really good points/ideas that merit further discussion. We should try to plan a general meeting for next week if people are available. These would be a GREAT place to start.

Thanks to you & Karen for once again culling out some really valuable items. I hope we can discuss these further.

Thanks for the thanks, but I didn't feel slighted in the least B-) . I think Mike and Karen really did much more to bring out some very good points and questions.
