Some topics of interest:
Keep the sign violation sticker program (because people love it so?) http://www.townofcary.org/pd/pl06-022.htm
Two in-process road widenings to cost a hefty bit more: http://www.townofcary.org/op/en06-071.htm & http://www.townofcary.org/op/en06-074.htm
Why all the planners keep leaving?? http://www.townofcary.org/op/pl06-030.htm
Separating long-range plan changes from rezoning proposals (reaction to change in state law; should result in more "interesting" interplay among staff, council, P&Z board): http://www.townofcary.org/pd/pl06-027.htm
No need to hurry on those traffic studies: http://www.townofcary.org/pd/pl06-028.htm
And best of all:Council Chambers
316 N. Academy Street, Cary, N.C.
(in other words, meeting to take place at the new town hall palace! I expect champagne! ).
Comments on any of these (or others), anyone?

Oh, and all those things cited are on consent agenda, so you won't hear about them during the meeting.

Has anyone from the town asked those departing from the planning staff why they are leaving? Everything I have heard about those who have left say it all comes down to one thing. Anyone?

Don't know for sure but I'd guess the constant shift in message and philosophy has gotten to many of them. Coupled with the draw of a bit more money and the appeal they provide to developers because of their inside knowledge of Cary's complex development ordinances, I'm almost surprsied that any of them are still around.

I've heard secondhand from one recent "defector" and hope to ask a couple others.

Just a question, but do they have any contractual clauses in effect that would prevent them from using what amounts to "insider" information, or "non-compete" clauses or conflict of interest agreements when they're hired? Seems that they'd be worth a lot to developers, and downright dangerous to the community if they can parlay that info into bucks and unrestrained growth with all the stops pulled and the throttle at full tilt, at our expense...

I am seriously delinquent in posting this, but we all should congratulate Don Frantz for his appointment to the Planning & Zoning Board.
Don is a local business owner, a first-rate mechanic, president of the Heart of Cary, an asset to the Town of Cary and a friend.
The town will be better with his service in this formal capacity in the community.
Thanks, Don, for your past, present and future endeavors to make Cary a better place.
Every once in awhile, the good guys win!
