**** to Vin Rouge, 9th st. in Durham. Authentic French neighborhood bistro atmosphere. Provencal food like cassoulet and hangar steak. Marcia couldn't stop raving about the calves liver and onions. Salad and clams with glaric were top notch. Excellent bread. Tarte Tatin was yummy. French wine. Good service. Dirty photos in the bathrooms. Moderate prices except the wine.
It brought back memories of Paris or Arles. Reservations needed on weekends.
Now if they ever got TCAP going we could have a branch in Cary. But would Jeff Ulma allow the full frontal nudity - probably counter to the sign ordinance?

And there's more about Vin Rouge...the co-owner looks like Cameron Diaz but with a French accent. No joke. And she has quite the sense of humor. I was there with a friend for lunch recently. After we ate, the co-owner showed us around the restaurant. There was a guillatine on the back porch. I asked her what that was all about and she said (with her thick French accent), "That is for the customers who complain. How did you like your lunch?" :-D
Great food and especailly the wine. Go there!
