Today's N&O showed Cary's water suppy is in much better shape then our neighbors, see:

Me thinks this after election story is simply a weak attempt by the parade of homes ad addicted N&O to provide positive energy to kick start Jennifer Robinson's and Jack Smith's re-election efforts. There is no way positive common sense management of our precious natural resources is something the current Cary Council and staff minions could consciously be responsible for. We all know the evil empire's only interest is to kiss the ring of centex homes and the homebuilder lobby and they would have no time to actually adopt thoughtful policies that minimize negative drought impacts to existing residents and our natural environment.

Orage Quarles must think we all fell off the turnup truck yesterday. Who does he think he is kidding?

I did see where Cary has suspended outdoor watering in response to Governor Easley's request. My 3-week permit ended just a few days ago so I guess I barely made it. I wonder how much water rates are going to go up now? Seems like last time around Cary citizens used less water, they were rewarded with higher rates :-/

That must be it Hyatt. This is just a ploy disguised as a consevation effort to raid the wallets of cary homeowners, so that we can continue feeding the hungry development beast.

You don't really expect them to limit new building permits, thus limiting new lawns to be watered and more cars to be washed, do you? I mean, Centex and WHBA would eat them alive.... I fully expect "Perky Princess" to continue to push for the JenniPlex GigAquatics park, and try to pass it off as a reservoir for emergency drought prevention.

I'm not quite that cynical but I would say it has more to do with avoiding criticism than it does with water conservation. Otherwise, Cary would be leading the conservation effort and offering to help it's neighbors instead of grudgingly going along.

Or, perhaps we are already seeing the effects on incumbents preparing to deal with (and answer to) the new town council.
