I guess we should get ready to endure the upcoming Perdue/Moore “she-said/he-said” spend-a-thon. Great
Perdue campaign sought Parton's help
Perdue slammed opponent over theater, but her fundraiser wanted singer's money

One month before Perdue's first Parton-related attack against State Treasurer Richard Moore, a fundraiser for Perdue's campaign pushed a Roanoke Rapids city official to raise $20,000 for her campaign from Parton and others.

Please make it stop. This is never going to end until both are not elected governor. Why not just have them share a campaign office together with 24/7 surveillance for entertainment purposes. Jeez.

As you read about the Roanoke Rapids fiasco, remember that this is the flagship project that used Tax Increment Financing.
Brought to you by "Amendment One".
(remember voting on that in 2004?)

I remember all too well voting AGAINST this travesty (my wife even made a homemade sign for our polling place urging people to vote it down AGAIN).

And this fiasco is indeed the poster child of why TIF should never see the light of day (but, indeed, the sort of results one ought to expect when there's a perception of "free money".

From the AP/NandO on what the potential Governors think about education:

http://www.newsobserver.com/2102/story/1044021.html

It is a long read, but it does give you an indication of what they may be thinking. But then again, in this day and age of say/do anything to get elected seems to be the "status quo." Why is it so hard to find an honest person running for office?
