Everything about Caryatid's post is hilarious but, most simply, because it hits the nail right on the head!!

Thank you Caryatid!! :-D

And give me a big, honkin' break: "conservatives vs socialism"?? You honestly mean to tell me that the roughly 40% or so of the GOP that currently supports McCain are all closet socialists? What, did someone fluoridate the water at the last convention, corrupting their precious bodily fluids? I love the way you label anything you don't like as 'socialist', without regard to reality. I can picture you at a restaurant: "Waiter, I want to send this steak back to the kitchen. It's too socialist."

BWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! :laughing3:

Do we really need to provide the big juicy Angus steak we're about to eat with a health care plan, and if I cut into it, do I have to worry that it might sue me? And do I have to eat all my appropriately colored and flavored vegetables along with it, so as not to be discriminatory? Did every cow on the farmers lot have an equal chance at becoming a steak on my plate, or was my particular cow (and the steak that it became) drafted involuntarily? Can I have some proof before I eat this particular cow that it was treated equally and humanely? And was it _union inspected? Did the farmer support and use "undocumented workers", supporting their cause with wages below minimum wage, while saying the reason he uses these underpaid and benefit-free workers is that no American worker would work under such conditions. Would any or all of these conditions be party to what Caryatid has termed a "socialist" steak? Gee, it's weird where a steak dinner can take you !!!!!

Hot dog vendors vs Southwest Raleigh
At the end of Tuesday's City Council meeting, Councilman Thomas Crowder complained that city inspectors were spending an inordinate amount of time looking at the hot dog vendors along Fayetteville Street. (Last year, the city adopted new standards for businesses operating on downtown public places and opened up a downtown permit office.)

He asked "if we could share the love" and get those workers focusing more on issues in southwest Raleigh, which is his district. City Manager Russell Allen said the inspectors go where they're sent, and don't necessarily care more about hot dogs than the goings on in southeast Raleigh. If Crowder truly wanted to see if this is true, he might want to strategically station some hot dog carts in SW Raleigh and see if they draw instant attention.

So what do you think. Are the city's downtown hot dog vendors taking up valuable inspector time? Or do you feel better about purchasing a hot dog along Fayetteville Street because Big Brother is watching.
