Does anyone know why the council meeting was moved from Thursday the 10th to Monday the 7th? Is there a holiday this week that I am missing?

No holidays that I'm aware of and contrary to normal practice, there was no mention of a reason for moving the meeting. The only thing I can think of is that it's Masters Week down in Augusta, GA and Mayor Weinbrecht has had the honor and privilege of operating a score board (can't remember on which hole) at the Masters for about as long as I can remember. I'm guessing he couldn't make Thursday so it was moved to Monday.

That makes sense.

I can't blame Harold for wanting to be at the Masters as usual. I'd want to do the same thing! I've always been envious if his yearly pilgrimage to Augusta.

I have to ask, however, if it really necessary to rearrange the entire council schedule to accommodate the Mayor? Isn't the Mayor Pro tem supposed to fill in when the Mayor cannot be present? Why not just let Julie do her job? :-/

I have to agree. Seems to me that the previous Mayor Pro Tem did exactly that on a couple of occasions when the Mayor was out of town. Maybe someone can ask Julie and report back here.

*If* the reason for the change in the council schedule does have to do with the Mayor's trip to Augusta I wonder the same thing David. I agree working at the Masters is a cool thing....heck, my dad has been doing it for 25+ years and works in the press room. He and my mom are there right now, and I got to go in 1991. However cool though, if this is the reason for the change I'm not sure I agree. On the other hand, if council and staff had no problem with it, it's really not a big thing. Again, we don't know for sure the reason so I'm interested to hear why.

I found the following when searching for potential date conflicts that may have forced a meeting date change when the calendar was adopted last Fall. It may have been thought that some CTC members would participate so the meeting was moved. As far I can tell though, no local officials attended so I'm not sure why the meeting didn't take place in its normal time slot....
