HollyL is on the front page yet again, for her excellent victory on the signs issue (although it sounds as if she's not quite done yet, good for her).
Don is quoted in the downtown signs issue article also.
Did I miss anyone?

It's funny, I had a couple of people at work ask about the availability of Dick Nixon signs. All for naught now....thanks Holly.
It coulda been a movement.
We might have been able to elect a dead guy to some obscure Soil and Water Conservation board position.
How cool would that have been? Cary could have gotten national headlines, "Cary goes for Nixon!" "Nixon's the one! in Cary!"
No mayhem or panic in the electoral process now thanks to you Holly.
I suppose I'll have to find another way to subvert the Republic.
I'm still waiting for my "Nixon for Congress - He likes Frantz Automotive" sign.

Fear not my friends...there is still work to be done. One of the last statements in the article ("Despite Nielsen's and the ACLU's continuing concerns about the LDO, McAlister said there are no plans to change the political sign portion of the ordinance.") is *VERY* disappointing.
Seems they are not going to address the other issues even though myself and the ACLU have alerted them that "'Both federal and state courts have ruled that content-based restrictions regarding permits, durational limits, quantity, and size of signs are all impermissible violations of the First Amendment,' (Rudinger and Jaffe ACLU attorneys)". This is unacceptable - I hope he was misquoted.

Dick Nixon for Soil and Water Conservation Board!
The city council really is as dumb as I tell people they are.

Kelly,
What can you say about a City council that passes laws that any first year law school student should be able to identify as grossly in violation of either the State or the Federal Constitutions or laws?
That gawdawful Payments for Politicians Act / "Public Campaign Financing" ordinance the city passed was so blatantly against NC law that I'm sure the State Board of Election members had to laugh when reviewing it and hearing the moronic attempts to justify it. It took the Board what, all of 5 minutes to rule against the City?
Now the city wants to maintain a law regulating the content of signage. Hmm....it begs a lawsuit. It'd be funny except that when the ACLU wins the taxpayers of Cary will get stuck with the attorney's bills.
Our city council critters have important things to deal with, namely utilities, police, and the fire department but instead their priorities are water sprinklers in city parks, Inconsequential Art, and Regency Park. I have to ask how many of them are professional alcoholics and how many are merely recreational substance abusers. Sober people don't think the way they do.
How many adults find joy in trying to order people not to allow smokers into their place of business, banning neon window signage, and get bent out of shape over the size and font of the text on city documents? Holy crap these people are petty and sometimes malicious. I assume they're all adults so they must not be sober.

Thanks John, you just gave me a great idea for either DonF's, Brent's, or Holly's run for mayor next time. There campaign will focus on (and their slogan too) will be "Back to Basics."

DonF,

Something wrong with the more direct:
"Vote for _____: (s)He's not a drunken Ahole"?

Somehow I think I might not have the right look for Grand Poobah of Pleasantville (although I normally don't go around town like this).

Holly - a string of pearls, a little black (or red) dress, the purple hair and we can probably get you on the council with no problem.
Also, you have made my "lady CP's" hotties list. :D

Anyone have an opportunity to read "Wild Bill" McNeals "In my opinion" in this weeks Cary News. Let's see he failed his last set of goals by 3 percent and blamed "lack of funding." He basically has re-issued the same goals as before but with even more time, and still wants lots more money. However, after reading his little "opinion" (probably written by Mike Weeks (WCPSS PR Flak)), all I can say is grab hold of your wallets cause another school bond request is on the way.

But Wup, real estate appreciation is still 3-5% in Cary so obviously Wild Bill is more successful than you think.
