Rio Churrascaria – Brazilian Streak House

This placed just opened ten days ago at McGregor Village (where the Old English Pub used to be). This is a very different type of steakhouse; buffet style meat house is a better description. After you have made your drink selection, you then proceed to the salad & appetizer bar. About 30 different items and a variety of oils and dressings. After you had your fill at the “bar”, let you waiter know that you are ready for the main course. He will bring out several side items and flip your “chip” to the green side. (Special note: For all you Cardinal Club veterans, this is where Fernando is now working).

Now that your chip is green, this lets the Gauchos (meat carvers) know that you are ready for your feast. Each Gaucho carries a different type of meat that they will carve for you right at the table. Some of the choices include: pork loin, leg of lamb, pork sausage, pork ribs, beef picanha (house special), top & bottom sirloin, and chicken legs & hearts.

The “Rodizio style dinner” is $24.95 per person, and $14.95 for children (12 and younger). We also had a bottle of Chilean Wine for $38.00. They also had a nice dessert selection as well. A good place for a date night, but probably even better with friends. Atkins friendly. :D

At this point I give it four out of five stars. It is one of the few times I have left a local restaurant feeling “full” and feeling like I got my money’s worth. Go Hungry!

I have been twice. First time ws great, second time I was seated in a poor location and rarely got service. I may give them a third chance, but am not sure at this point.

Wup,

Do you EVER eat at home?

JohnB - Mrs. Wup gets "date night" once a week. Also, at times she works from home, so we like to go out to lunch when possible (it's a little cheaper). With four boys (3 teenagers) now, we do cook a lot. However, maybe once a week, when things are busy, we take the whole clan out. Cici's, Michanglo's, Dakota Grill, Fire Moutain, and of course, Golden Corral are the preferred places. On B-days, we let them pick where they want to eat. :D

Which reminds me. I would like to compile a list of all the food places in/around Cary, that have "kids nights" or discounts for kids. So if you CPer's can think of any, please let me know (via E-mail). Once compiled, will post here, but have a separate entry for each night.

For instance, on Monday nights kids under 12 eat free (with paying adult) at Remington Grill and Bear Rock Cafe. Also on Monday night at Golden Corral has a clown on duty for face painting and balloon toys.

I suspect you were missing the KC charm at your 2nd visit.

The one thing I learned when we ate at the one in Raleigh is to not load up oon the sausage and and chicken they walk around with in the beginning. The good stuff is their cut of meat that is just below the sirloin cut. The rarer the better.

Wup, as you know I am originally from the great country of Brazil and love all Brazilian restaurants in the area! B-)
When are you going to post the list of the food places that have kid nights? I have 2 boys and they are kind of picky!
