Stan has a very good column about the chronic underfunding of Wake Co. Schools.
Any others?

I will have to go back and read Stan's school story. But I thought that new development payed for itself. Undervalued farmland is converted to residential housing, that means lots more tax revenue. With all the new tax revenues, we get more schools, better teachers and higher salaries for all! Speaking of salaries, has anyone gotten one recently with this economy? I know someone who has gotten several good pay raises for basically doing his job. See below:

Don't complain Wup, Wild Bill is responsible for our low crime rate, our high property valuations, our low unemployment, our robust economy, our water quality, our local health care systems, sliced bread, the letter "L", rainbows, and sunshine.

JohnB - you are correct. What I am waiting for is for Wild Bill to turn Cary sludge into gold. That way he can prove that he is really doing something for WCPSS, instead of whinning all the time. If he is really that "good" why doesn't take on a much higher paying job in a bigger district, let us say Washington, D.C.
What really burns me about Wild Bill getting a payraise is that he failed to make goal. What I refer to is the original 95% students at or above grade in reading & math by 2002. In the private sector, most senior executives get the axe for failing to make expected stakeholder goals. However, at least in the case of WCPSS, Wild Bill gets to make excuses and still gets a payraise & bonus. On top of all that, he gets another 5 years to make "goal" that was set in 1996. I quess the old saying still applies:
If you can't do, teach, if you can't teach, administate, if you can't administrate, get a government job.
