Let this one stew in your consciouness a bit. Kerry makes a speech to the National Baptist Convention and the NAACP citing Biblical passages to attack George Bush. Yet Bush is the one the lefties rail against for bringing religion into politics. Why is it a Donkey can go to a leftist church/political action group and bash his or her opponent with scriptures they have little time for until election season, yet a GOP'er who is, as Zell Miller said of Bush, the same man on Saturday night that he is on Sunday morning, but the Donkey gets a pass from the lefties while the GOP'er gets attacked as if he were trying to impose a theocracy on the nation? Seems like a double standard doesn't it?

"As scripture reminds us, beware of wolves in sheep's clothing," Kerry said, citing Bush's failure to meet with leaders of major black organizations like the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the Congressional Black Caucus.

I don't think the scripture meant someone who doesn't keep their commitments. I think he was taking a figure of speech and twisting it around and then saying it was scripture. Scripture is talking about false Gods or teachers of God. Pretty weird and stupid really for him to say that in that context.

What he should have said was...

The scriptures denounce this war in Iraq!

Matthew 5:38-39
You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.' But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Romans 12:17-19
Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord."

Matthew 5:43-45
You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Matthew 24:6-8
And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.

Deuteronomy 20:19
When you besiege a city for a long time, making war against it in order to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an axe against them. You may eat from them, but you shall not cut them down. Are the trees in the field human, that they should be besieged by you?

The scriptures denounce GWB's tax cuts for the rich!

Romans 12:20
To the contrary, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head."

Matthew 19:21
Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."

Matthew 5:5
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Leviticus 19:15
You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor.

The scriptures speak of homosexual marriage and it does not condemn it!

Ruth 1:16-18 and 2:10-11
But Ruth said, "Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the LORD do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you." And when Naomi saw that she was determined to go with her, she said no more.

1 Samuel 18:1
As soon as he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
