**WakeCARES 2008 General Election Endorsements**

WakeCARES <http://www.wakecares.com>
has joined forces with various educational advocacy groups to give
Wake County elected officials an opportunity to share their views.

The citizens of Wake County can no longer accept the continuing
achievement gaps, the decline in measurable academic performance, the
low graduation rates among minorities, the lack of responsiveness to
the concerns of the citizens of Wake County and the waste of
resources on untested programs.

The following candidates share our commitment to bring true
excellence to our education system. Their responses indicate that
they are willing to make the changes necessary to bring
accountability to the Wake County Public School System and to support
every student in obtaining the high quality education that is needed
to prepare our children for the future in this global economy.

I give WakeCARES credit for taking the time to survey most of the candidates, a few chose not to respond. As always, there are many issues to consider in this election, but regarding support for schools WakeCARES has made some excellent choices.
