Just a reminder. General Robert E. Lee's birthday is this Monday. He was born 19 January 1807. I attend to spend few minutes with my kids educating them on this great American hero.

Fact: Did you know that Robert E. Lee was a direct decendent of Robert the Bruce, of Scotland (the real "Braveheart).

Yes, I knew that, although today is Lee-Jackson Day in Virginia.

I will fly the 3rd National, CSA, today in honor of Lee. The other 364 days it flies at my place in honor of Stonewall Jackson. :)

I was down in Gainesville, FLA this weekend with my daughter, she took me on the tour to her sorority house, all over campus, and by frat row. One of the frats, Kappa Alpha, had a huge blue banner up on the front of their building which said:

KA celebrates the birthday of General Robert E. Lee.

At Chapel Hill those boys would have been arrested, beaten, and shot. Or at least academically harassed. And that's but a slight exaggeration.

I was not displeased when my daughter turned down Chapel Hill's acceptance letter and opted for UF instead.
