First of three Presidential Debates is on Thursday nite. Anyone want to meet at one of the local "watering holes?" Debates & Draft Beers - now that is a combo I can relate too.

Suggestions?

Woody's Tavern on Harrison Avenue. A little noisy, a little smokee, but lots of TV's. I will call this afternoon and see if they will "resevere" a TV for the debates.

Isn't Woody's on Chapel Hill Road (Hwy 54)?

Rono - You are correct, it is on 8322 Chapel Hill Road. However, I was thinking of the place that it under "Pure Gold." Can't remember the name but,.....

I just talked to the General Manager over at StoneWood Grill & Tavern on 1080 Darrington Dr, Cary. Said it would be no problem to switch one of the TV's over to the debates.

so, StoneWood Grill & Traven at 9 pm

Wup,

So let's say someone from Carypolitics shows up, how exactly would that person be able to recognize, say, you for instance?

JohnB,

I be the only "horizontally challenged" guy there with a notepad and beard.

Homework: Identify 3 non-verbals messages that each debater uses and how is it used.

Perhaps now moot, but you're thinking of Harrison's.

Stick? That's amazingly low tech holly. I am not a Luddite when it comes to weaponry.

Besides, being raised a southerner I was taught to never hit a lady.

Not even one who abdicates her critical faculties on the eve of an election and votes for "Peace in our Time" Kerry.

Holly,

The Thursday gathering of CP participants to view the debate included of course the webmaster himself, DonH, and Kelly, Wuptdo and myself.

It was nice to meet both Kelly and Wuptdo ( I have met with DonH before) and was a very pleasant experiance (even though I of course was outnumbered 3- 1....you know that slight right slant I have mentioned, and DonH enhanced by graphic display, in previous post!)

While words can seem to get hot on the computer screen that displays nothing more than type, (the "pen" is mightier than the sword) it is always, to me, more rewarding and pleasurable to meet people in person. I will alway give respect to anyone that has a passion to be involved in the process and takes the time to gather and be a part of it.

(A special thanks to Wuptdo for some good and informatiive conversation outside following the debate)

On the flip side, one must also understand that schedules do not always allow such (which brings to mind that if there is to be another gathering for this Fridays debate, I will not be able to be in attendance due to my being in NYC on family business)

In any event, it is good and healthy to bring together people from this board to meet and get to know one another better. I think it changes the way posts are interpreted by those who have met and talked.

I thank Wuptdo for putting this together, and Kelly and Don for being there. I also look forward to getting together again soon.

Well said, Rono. Sorry I couldn't make the debate get-together. There have been previous gatherings of many of the regulars on this site (and several of us also participated together in the Citizens Budget Review Committee) and I agree with your observations. I consider many/most of the folks here friends and you're right, knowing people helps with interpretation of the writings that you see here even when the disagreeing words start to fly! :)
