Gotta love the donkeys....already claiming that if Bush wins it's only because the election was stolen...nice how they mock the rule of law and the Constitution to suit their own cravings for political power....
The joke ballot Rono feeds off the donkeys insane conspiracy theories, one of which Kerry is personally spreading right now, that Republicans are trying to "suppress" black votes and keep blacks away from the polls. It seems they're willing to destory any legitimacy the system itself has in order to get power.
There's a great bumper sticker out with Kerry on it that says:
SCREW MORALE: I WANT TO BE PRESIDENT

Rono,
The lack of a paper record is problematic.
However, that is only a problem if vote fraud is likely. Frankly, it is a crime that a picture ID is not mandatory for voting. No vote should be accepted without a picture ID. For the military overseas that is easily accomplished by having the officer of the day if on ship or the XO at company or battalion level verify the name on the ballot against a military ID card.
For domestic use, absentee ballots should ONLY be accepted at walkin locations and like voting on election day a picture ID should be mandatory. Too much fraud goes on now, Bush was not credited with his victories in NM, WI, and OR because of fraudulent "votes" and he almost lost Florida due to ballot box tampering. Thule should already be a South Dakota Senator since he beat Tim Johnson two years ago but was denied his seat due to fraud in the Indian counties.
This election we'll see massive vote fraud in Philly as Mayor John Streat attempts to deliver Pennsylvannia to the donkeys regardless of the legality of his actions. They've already started with another track this year as well, dual registrations, IE, donkeys registered to vote in NY and Florida and voting in each and the neat trick of registering felons. They were caught in Ohio and Florida last week. Expect more stunts like that over the next three weeks.
Steal whatcha can't earn I suppose.
Our elections are a joke because every time someone proposes a basic security measure to defeat fraud, ie mandatory picture identification, the Donkeys scream "_RACISM!!!_" As if blacks don't have or can't get picture id's like the rest of us.

My biggest concern is these Windows touch screen voting machines. They were hacked by a monkey!
"Baxter the chimp is shown deleting the audit log that is supposed to keep track of changes in the Diebold central tabulator, the computer and program that keeps track of county vote totals."

Paper receipts for each vote with a cross reference to a voter id number would solve that problem. That's all that has to happen to deal with that issue. The biggest source of fraud in US elections is dead people "voting", senile people "voting", felons voting, illegal aliens voting (including the Mexican that assasinated Mexican presidential candidate Colosio back in the earlyl 90's, he was registered twice in California). None of these will be stopped by computer terminals in the voting booth. They'll only be stopped with the mandatory use of a picture id and a unique voter number identifying all voters period.
The technology is there and it's easy. We're not doing it because fraud is in the best interest of one party and their opposition is afraid of getting called mean names.

If it wasn't a felony I'd bet (and win) that I could register my dog to vote. He's probably smarter than a lot of the voters anyway. :-D

I don't mean to be a hateful SOB, but I'd administer a poll test before allowing anyone to vote.
If you can't name the Vice President, Speaker of the House, Senate Majority and Minority leaders, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court; and you cannot identify the three branches of the US government, your governor, lieutenant governor, and state attorney general, get out of the polling place, you don't deserve to vote. That's just ignorance in action.

I would suggest we start by eliminating all Georgia Bulldog, Florida Gator, or Alabama Tide Fans. That in and of itself should improve the election results. Maybe exclude the UNC fans too, just for kicks.

But Kelly, we'd have to have touch screen voting for all the Auburn grads left, we know you folks can't read so the ballot measures would have to be strings of pictograms. :)

I think you just narrowed the voting pool to about 10% of the population. Heck you could rule out at least 10% of the voters by just asking them to point to their state on a map - one that has the names on it already.
