I've maintained several bird feeders at my home for years and have enjoyed watching them, sometimes a dozen or more at a time, as they figure out the pecking order of the day. They seem to love to feed in a light rain and they avoid the hottest part of the afternoon when they find some shade to take a nap in.
Last night and this morning, even though there's fresh bird seed, I only see 1/3 - 1/2 the normal crowd.
Somehow they know a big storm is headed this way....
