I am going this afternoon to see this movie. From other Blogs I have read, I will either laugh my head off, or walk out. My understanding if you enjoyed "F/911" or "The Day after Tomorrow," you may be inclined to not like this movie for some reason. Anyway, there is something to offend everyone and isn't that what good satire is all about?

Will post a review after the show.

I saw it last night. I won't spoil it for you by saying too much now...but it isn't like 9/11 at all. Although a Michael Moore puppet is in it but they are making fun of him.

Team America Released this weekend. To me, it was one of the movies with some real good laughs, some ho-hum laughs, phat jokes, and some things that just wanted to make me puke. I am glad I only took the oldest boy. Way too much use of the "F" word, weird "puppet" sex, and implied "homosexual" acts. Many so-called sacred cows were lampooned, and there was enough material to offend both sides of the political spectrum. I can't wait too see how well this film does in Europe and the Muslin world.
The film producers did a great job of using puppets and showing the limitations of using puppets. So in many ways, they made almost as much fun at themselves as they did their targets. The attention to detail of the sets and props was outstanding. The music score was interesting as well, but you had to listen closely in many cases (I bet Ben Affleck is not a happy camper!). Where I attended the movie, people clapped when certain members of the Film Actors Guide (F.A.G.) had their screen presence removed from the movie.
I believe this movie was rushed to finish it off. Too many of the jokes were "Airplane" or "Hot Shot" inspired. A little more work polishing this movie would of gone a long way. However, in the end, this movie will be the the cultural icon of this generation of 15-24 year olds; much like "Porky's," "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," "Bill & Ted's Excellant Adventure," and "Clueless." This movie would not be a good "date" movie, nor would I encourge you to take younger teenagers (inspite of their pleading that so and so has seen the movie).
Two Stars (and will not buy the DVD)

I'm not sure what was funnier...Michael Moore, aka Fat *******, as a socialist terrorist/homicide bomber attacker a US intelligence agency or
Kim Il Sung's remark "When you see Alec Baldwin you will see the ugliness of humanity." Although "Matt Damon!" came close, especially the last time. Those guys made Baldwin, Damon, Sarandon, Garofolo look like apoligists for vile leftwing terrorists. I suppose one could consider that Coals to Newcastle, but it was a hoot.
Mark, you would definetly come out of the theater in a shaking rage.

JohnB - Funny you should mention Mark. When Kim IL Jong was singing "I'm so Lonely" walking through his palace, I thought about Mark, and his world. However, now that he is in Boston, he is with his own kind and probably much happier for it.
Micheal Moore outside of Mt. Rushmore, protesting with a hot dog in each hand - now there is a screen shot.

Team America weird "puppet" sex, and implied "homosexual" acts.
Based on what I could tell the male puppet was Ken like and lacked a penis...which made it even weirder. I believe the implied "homosexual act" was not implicit initially and that is why it got the NC17 rating at first. The theme song was interesting too:
America! F*** yeah!
We are good! F*** yeah!
Freedom is good! F*** yeah!
Terrorists, your game is through
So lick my butt and suck my b***
I'd definately say if swearing (constantly) and puppet sex, violence and barfing (alot) offend you, this is a movie to avoid. I thought there were about 10 really funny parts but the rest wasn't really all that great/funny.
Sean Pean's (he was a 'character' in the movie and let's just say he meets his maker) sent a letter to Parker and Stone in response to the movie. I've tried and for the life of me can't tell when the heck he is even saying! Best part is the friendly salutation.

To Trey Parker and Matt Stone,
I remember a cordial hello when you guys were beginning to be famous guys around Hollywood at some party. I remember several times getting a few giggles out of your humor. I remember not being bothered as you traded on my name among others to appear witty, above it all, and likeable to your crowd. I never mind being of service, in satire and silliness.
I do mind when anybody who doesn't have a child, doesn't have a child at war, or isn't or won't be in harm's way themselves, is encouraging that there's "no shame in not voting" "if you don't know what you're talking about" (Mr. Stone) without mentioning the shame of not knowing what your talking about, and encouraging people to know. You guys are talented young guys but alas, primarily young guys. It's all well to joke about me or whomever you choose. Not so well, to encourage irresponsibility that will ultimately lead to the disembowelment, mutilation, exploitation, and death of innocent people throughout the world. The vote matters to them. No one's ignorance, indcluding a couple of hip cross-dressers, is an excuse.
All best, and a sincere f*&k you,
Sean Penn

The knuckledragging troglodytes at the DemocraticUnderground are in an uproar over this movie. They really have no sense of humor and are in a rage against the movie and it's creators. Check out the discussion thread, it is hilarious.

Saw "TEAM AMERICA"last night. This film is VERY anti-liberal!
Okay, I laughed in some of it but overall this is a Freepers wet dream. They poke fun at liberals BIG TIME!!!Nothing against ANY rightwingers, ONLY LIBERALS!!! Liberals are the butt of the joke & are even the villians in this.Oh, & all the liberals Die a horrific death in this. TOTALLY bias! I mean, c'mon. How can they NOT have Bush puppet? I mean, he so much a charachter that needs to be mocked. This film was very mean spirited IMO. My firned said I didn't get it. That it was an extreme right wing edge to it & that was the joke. Well, I didn't get that when I saw it. TRUST ME, Freepers will call this film their own & Trey Parker & Matt Stone have sold out BIG TIME!
