Hyatt to buy AmeriSuites hotel chain
Deal with The Blackstone Group is reportedly worth $600 million, expected to close in January.
December 9, 2004: 8:50 AM EST

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Hyatt Corp. has agreed to buy the AmeriSuites hotel chain from affiliates of private equity firm The Blackstone Group, Hyatt said Thursday.

Privately-held Hyatt said the deal -- terms of which have not been disclosed -- is expected to close in early January.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the deal will be worth roughly $600 million.

The purchase is part of Hyatt's plan to restructure itself by bringing its domestic and international operations under one umbrella to be called Global Hyatt Corp., Hyatt said in a statement.

The new umbrella company will be formed by the end of this year and will be led by Thomas Pritzker, currently chairman and chief executive of Hyatt Corp.

After the acquisition is completed, Hyatt plans more than $150 million in capital expenditure, branding and marketing.

Hyatt to restructure Self
Planned changes may prove to be costly
December 9, 2004: 6:00PM EST

Cary (Cary Politics News) - In a move sure to upset the political and social equilibrium of the city of Cary, local political gadfly, Don Hyatt, announced a Personal Restructuring Plan today.

The centerpiece of the PRP is a radical Follicle Improvement and Accelerated Density Growth Strategy. When asked if this wasn't a simple "hair transplant" Hyatt reacted vigorously, stating "This is a pro-active plan to protect and grow follicle assets, it is not a reaction to criticism or ridicule and certainly not a vain attempt to deny any alleged "mid-life crises", if that were the case I'd be driving a Mustang or Porsche."

Follicle strategist, Dr Guido Sarducchi, suggested Hyatt was an excellent candidate for the process due to the high concentration of hair follicles available for transplant on Hyatt's back, the top of his feet, and in his ears.
"My God, the man looks like a Hobbitt!", exclaimed Sarducchi.

Complementary efforts announced by Hyatt involve contracting with a local muscular development facility, a "gym" in street parlance, for the use of certain machines and other assets along with consulting services.

Upon investigation it was revealed that the consulting services will be provided by a subcontracting firm known as "Hard Bodies". Staff members with the firm acknowledged off the record that Hyatt's case was being handled by Hard Bodies Senior Trainer, 'Buffy'. When questioned as to her qualifications the corporate response was simply "24y/o, 34D-22-28, blonde hair, blue eyes".

Upon regaining his composure, Hyatt spokesman, Don Hyatt, announced the final component of his Personal Restructuring Plan, retention of the Cary Political Consulting firm FU_CTC, Inc. When contacted for comment FU_CTC, Inc President, John Barbara, suggested CPN correspondents do something extremely biological and illegal in 47 states and the District of Columbia to themselves.

When pressed to estimate the cost of the PRP Hyatt stated the Plan would "pay for itself", at which time he was viciously attacked by the Cary Planning Staff for "stealing" their idea. CPN was unable to get further details on the funding sources and costs because at the sound of "pay for itself" the members of the Cary City Council began throwing vast sums of cash at Hyatt as he lay on the ground twitching and bleeding after being beaten senseless.

Hyatt's corporate nemesis, Mrs. Hyatt, responded through spokeswoman, Mrs. Hyatt, by laughing hysterically to the point of having tears streaming down her cheeks. No decipherable words could be recorded.

Actually, it had both my wife and daughter laughing about as hard as I've ever seen them :-) Thanks for the healthy dose of holiday levity =D>

JohnB - That was great. It was so funny, I had to wipe the coffee off the monitor!

The quality of writing here never ceases to amaze me.

Glad Admin Hyatt is thicked skinned, with a good sense of humor!
