The Cary Dog Club, a private, for profit entity, wants the city to build them a leash free doggie park. They say it will "pay for itself". Just like Regency did, just like the Tennis Center did, just like, well, you get the picture.
Here's an idea....the city should sell the Buffalo tract to the Cary Dog Club for their leash free doggie park. Since it will supposedly "pay for itself" the Cary Dog Club won't have a problem. They're guaranteed to come out ahead financially. Plus the added benefit of not having to deal with the city council or non-members wanting to slip a cat or a ferret in on the action.
Since there are some number of dog owners in Cary who buy dogs that they can't possibly provide the proper amount of space in which the dog can exercise the Cary Dog Club should do something to help these poor animals with negligent owners. Plus, they can turn a buck doing it. This would be a point where the profit motive comes in to alleviate a degree of neglect and cruelty to animals.
All those people who bought a Great Dane but live in an apartment, rather than throw their burden on the taxpayers of Cary, the Cary Dog Club could provide the means to resolve the problem.
Surely, since the facility will "pay for itself" there won't be a problem now will there?
