Just an idea, but I will write some letters to try to make this happen.

What do you all think?

Everytime I go south on I-95, I know exactly why some of the bridges are named after local or State police.

He deserves to be honored in some way; this would seem to be a fitting way. The alternative is that this and other facilities will be named after blowhard politicians instead (yuck). So, good idea, Wuptdo, see what you can do!

...actually its a horrible idea....

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the Y a private entity? It's not a unit or department of the city of Cary or Wake County. It's not our decision or the city's decision. It's the board of the YMCA's decision.

Let the city or county name a stretch of road, a park, a government bldg or some such thing after him.

Thanks John, I didn't know quite how to say that.

John, you are correct. However, I will write some letters, including the board of directors for the YMCA (I will include a check as well). I know the YMCA is short on funds for this project, so it may be in their best interest. Taking something so negative and finding a positive solution is the backbone of public relations.

However, it is requested that one of our talented "wordsmith's" please write a nice LTE to both the Cary News and N&O. I think I am blacklisted as my last few letters have never made it in the Cary News.

Who knows, maybe this little snowball can get rolling.

Many Thanks,

Although I have never known a "Y" to be named after someone (I could have just missed that fact), it would be a very nice gesture if they would choose to commemorate Mr. Tucker in that way.

Nah! Brent and Darryl Black just take up all the space, they never have room for anyone elses.
