Ya, but it would have been nice "IF" they printed what was sent in. Here is the entire letter:

North Carolina Needs TABOR

Governor Easley's State of the State address did little to convince those
of us who are paying attention to the 1.3 BILLION dollar deficit the State of
North Carolina has acquired under his leadership that there are any plans to
curb the wasteful spending, and get us back on track to fiscal discipline.

In fact, all our "fiscally conservative" Governor could come up with for solutions
to our budget woes was A: a lottery.....again, and B: increasing the cigarette tax. Are these our only
options here? Raising taxes and legalize gambling "just because other states
are doing it"? FYI - North Carolina has raised taxes 3 out of the last 4 years.

I have a suggestion - TABOR.

What North Carolina needs is a Taxpayer's Bill of Rights (TABOR). TABOR is
a constitutional amendment that would limit the growth of tax revenue and
spending to inflation plus population growth. If TABOR had been enacted in
1995 for example, over $1.4 billion would have been returned to the
taxpayers in the form of rebates or tax cuts. The current budget crisis
would have been avoided with $1.9 billion put into a budget
stabilization fund by 2001, and North Carolina would also have over $400
million set aside in an emergency fund.

Sounds a little better than the plan we have now right?

To learn more about TABOR please visit www.americansforprosperity.org
or call 919-839-1011. Please also call your elected officials and let them
know you support TABOR, North Carolina will be glad you did.

DonF - Just an FYI, they have the right to make "minor" changes, but not to change "content." They made "minor" changes to my LTE also. Oh well, at least the message got out!

Also, good letter. Glad to know that there is some organization out there that is looking out for us "little" people. :D

DonF is also quoted in today's N&O in a side bar to Demorris Lee's article on C-Tran. The side bar is about the sign LDO.
