I haven't decided whether I'm going to see this movie or not. I suspect I'll find it emotionally overwhelming and I don't usually like to be in that position. Still, there are so many opinions out there I'll probably have to find out for myself since I certainly don't trust the mainstream media reviews on this one. I get a real kick (of disgust) out of those saying the film is somehow "anti-semitic" while keeping silent on the true Jewish hate spewed by virtually all Islamic fundamentalists. I'll never figure that one out...

Don, I would be at the Movie at the Noon, except for this paper I'm writing on Conflict. I was going to write the Paper about the "conflict" that this movie is having on America. However, professor ask that I not do it, due to the potential problems in class; i.e., lets be PC. It is still my choice, but I do respect her opinion. (Annexation is a much easier issue)
Anyway, I believe that this film with impact American society in many ways, but in six months, it will be forgotten. (Remember "The Last Tempation of Christ" in the early 90's.) Mel Gibson is a brillant director, and I believe he put his heart and soul (and $25 million of his own money) into this picture. Remember Braveheart and Hamlet? See the film and enjoy the "art" of the film. If the film leaves you with either strong emotions and leaves you thinking (positively or negatively) -- then Mel has done his job. I have read stories about people openly crying watching this film, while others have left in distress (previews and private screenings). I will be seeing sometime over "spring" break.

Finally got a chance to see this movie. It won't hit my top ten list, but it definately made an impact. It is a very visual picture that will invoke strong emotional responses from most folks; i.e., it is very bloody and has some very strong violence. I would not take any child less than 12 to this movie. Mel Gibson has certainly come a long way as director and writer.
If you don't know the story of Jesus Christ (at least his last day), you may have trouble following what this story is about. Also the story is very vague about why the Rabbi's wanted JC dead. Anyway, I give it 3.5 stars (4 is max).

From our lay leader at our Church this past Sunday:
I know that many of you will see the movie, "The Passion of Christ". That's fine, but I would also like to recommend "The Book".
Excellent.

Since religion and politics is for all to hear (read), I brought this up from the past.
Hating Mel Gibson (http://www.towardtradition.org/article_Jews_Hate_Gibson.htm)
