In today's "What's Up" section of the N&O, they have a story of the best pizza pies in the Triangle.

J&S New York Pizza, Apex Village Shopping Center, 363-0071
Clao Bella, Cole Park Plaza, Chapel Hill
Pepper's Pizza, 127 e. Franklin St, Chapel Hill, 967-7766
Pizza Italia, WestGate Road, Westgate Shopping Center (?)
Sylvia's, 2305 Hillsborought St, 821-5720 ( )
Randy's Pizza, 5211 S.Miami Blvd., Durham, 941-7755
Salvio's, Parkway Pointe Shopping Center, SW Cary Pkwy, 467-4600
Pop's Pizzeria, 1822 N.Airport Rd, Chapel Hill, 932-1040

If you have a favorite that is not mentioned, please let the N&O know at:
newsobserver.com, under keyword "whatsup."

My favorites are:

NY Pizza (down from Sam's Club)
Michangloe's (Northwoods Shopping Center - Buffet got a lot better)

For feeding kids at a birthday party: Can't go wrong with fresh "Sam's Club" pizza. Heck they will even cook it for you for free.

Char's brother Stewart is the manager of Pepper's over on Franklin Street. If any of you guys have ever been there, Stewart is a "starving artist" who supports himself by working at Pepper's. He did a lot of the murals and paintings in that restaurant. :-D

You're nuts Stan.

The best is Key Pizza (or even the House of Pizza). Real Chicago style in the Chicago area.

1'x2' (after baking) pizza, baked in a brick oven. The edges are folded over 6-7 inches. The center of the pizza is the depth of 4 of those inedible NY style bread and catsup pizzas, the edges are double that, almost as thick as a Calzone.

Real Italian sausages, pepperonis, and peppers.

It's Chicago style or it's fraudulent.
