MAKE IT MULTIPOINT THURSDAY NIGHT

CARY, NC – At a special and first-of-its kind “multipoint” input session Thursday, anyone anywhere in the world will be able to share their thoughts about Cary’s budget priories for the coming year. Citizens can comment in person, by phone, or via email during the April 21st meeting, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Temporary Council Chambers in the Herb Young Community Center and cablecast live on Cary TV 11.

“The Town Council is hoping that the multipoint will let them hear from more citizens earlier in the process so that ideas can be given ample consideration before budget decisions have to be finalized in June,” said Town of Cary Budget Director Scott Fogleman.

Tomorrow’s multipoint will be hosted by Cary TV personalities Debra Grannan and Joe “Bud” Moore. To ensure that as many people as possible can participate during the live session, speakers will be asked to be brief and to the point, to focus on big-picture priorities, and to refrain from asking questions since the purpose of the session is to get opinion. Citizen comment will commence immediately following a short presentation by Fogleman, who will provide background on the Town’s budget process.

Those who choose electronic participation—either during or after the live meeting--should send an email to budgetinput@townofcary.org or call (919) 462-3859 beginning at 6:30 p.m. on April 21st. Everyone who participates regardless of medium will need to give their name and address.

This is the first time Cary has held a meeting where citizens can participate in so many ways. The idea originated with the Cary Town Council’s Information Services Advisory Board, a citizen’s group that makes suggestions on how the Town can maintain a high level of communication with the community.
