The Lotus Leaf Cafe is a Vietnamese Bistro-style restaurant that's in the shopping center at the corner of Maynard and Harrison (the one with the Food Lion, not the Harris Teeter.) It's in the spot that Chef John's used to be in.
I've been there a few times with friends and always had a good meal, for lunch or dinner. Their menu is Vietnamese with a twist, there are some French touches and some dishes seem kind of experimental, but I have yet to have anything bad here. The service is generally attentive and we've often talked with one of the owners while we were there (Ask her about those special pickled onions, yum!)
The last time I was there for lunch we met Chef John there, which was neat since my friends and I used to be regulars at his place before it closed. He said he eats at Lotus Leaf often, which sounds like a pretty good recommendation to me.
