Default Where Our Freedom Comes From

    Where Our Freedom Comes From

    Culture War/Doug Hagin
    March 17, 2006

Americans love their freedom; they love to talk about it, revel in it, embrace it, and of course, make use of it. How many of us, though, really take the time to reflect upon the sources of our freedom? How many of us truly ponder why, we, as Americans are as free as we are?

Now in answer to the questions listed above, I would wager that Americans who subscribe to a conservative view are likely to be more attuned to where our freedom comes from. Now, this is not to say Liberals cannot or do not grasp or appreciate why we are free. It is to say, however, that it surely seems that Americans on the right are far more realistic about where our freedom originates, and who defends it.

It seems to me that Liberals tend to embrace freedom as a given, that it is just there, with no source at all. In a way they are correct, freedom is the natural state for human beings. They are created to be free. Ah, but there is the first major difference in how the left and right see our freedoms. Those Americans on the right, even if they are not particularly religious, have no problem agreeing with Thomas Jefferson that we were all created with certain rights no government can take away.

Some Americans on the left can also admit this without undue stress. There are many on the left, though, that refuse to acknowledge such a possibility. For them, to even utter the word Creator is somehow a violation of their right to religious freedom. They do not see that America is a free nation because our Founders believed in a Creator that bestowed upon us all our inalienable liberties. Their right to not believe in a Creator exists because they were created with it. That is something many on the left absolutely refuse to accept.

For them, their fear of any mention or acceptance of anything even remotely Christian or religious, is so blinding they are unable to see that without the Creator they would not have religious freedom, yes even the freedom to not be religious. Quite an odd quandary they find themselves in. They are free to believe anything they wish, yet they cannot bring themselves to admit the source of tat freedom.

The second major area where the left and right do not tend to see our freedom the same concerns the Founding Fathers. Both those on the left and right, often quote these brave men. It is the right, however, which more readily identifies the Founders as heroic figures who risked everything they have to form a new nation, a nation that took the liberties men are created with and sought to guarantee and protect those rights.

Too often those on the left look upon these same men as a bunch of White men, a symbol of evil patriarchy. They see the as a bunch of slave owners. They see them as men who founded America, not to secure God-given rights but to secure greater wealth for themselves. Now, how can people who look upon the Founders with such disdain really appreciate the freedom these men helped secure for all Americans?

Yes, some were slave owners; yes, they created a nation where not everyone was, at that time equal. They did, though, also create the same nation that is, today, a land where everyone is equal and free. The left apparently cannot see past the fact that these heroes were imperfect and not politically correct enough. They refuse to consider where our freedoms would be today were it not for the Washington’s, Madison’s, Franklins, Adams, Hamilton’s, Jefferson’s, and Monroe’s.

There is a third chasm of appreciation of our liberties between left and right. The right is very aware that our liberty first comes from God. Secondly, that liberty was secured in the constitution our Founders gave us. Thirdly, Conservatives recognize with absolute certainty that those liberties bestowed by God, and secured by the Founders, would be non-existent without the soldiers, sailors, and airmen who have fought, and died to defend them.

Not to say the left does not recognize this fact, but it is those on the left who always seem more eager to defame our troops, to protest the wars they must wage, to question their effectiveness, and to under fund them. It is the left, which always is prepared to predict failure for our armed forces. It is always the left that questions the wisdom of Americas’ military might. It is the left, which trots out words like imperialism and arrogance to characterize our military might. There is a very good reason the left is looked upon as weak on national defense, their record shows them to be weak on it.

Apparently, they cannot come to grips with the ugly truth, that the only true peace to be had must be achieved and maintained through strength. America is free because of military might. Evil regimes exist; the Soviet Union would have forced us to live as they chose had we not been stronger than they were. The Soviets knew to face America meant their destruction.

The left still refuses to accept the reality of the peace through strength ideology. Somehow they are deluded enough to believe by being weak, and non-threatening, we can assure peace. That course, would lead to our destruction and an end to our liberty. The left cannot see this.

Do both the left and right love our liberty? Yes, but the left seems unwilling to recognize the source, God, those who founded America on liberty, the Founders, or those who defend it, our armed forces.

    WHY AMERICA IS BEING CURSED?
    by Donald Cahill

I have just returned from visiting the USA after being in Europe over
the last month. What I find in visiting the USA both shocked and alarmed me. I found a nation continuing to sleep-walk towards its own destruction.

The American people have increasingly become “dumbed down” through their media – they are becoming polarized with extremists on both the left and right proclaiming messages of hate and intolerance. Yet the media fails to inform Americans the peril their country is now in – there is a total lack of awareness of the dangers that lie ahead. People fail to grasp on the realities of the economic, political and environmental world which the USA must now co-exist in. There appears to a total lack of leadership or understanding in solving America’s or the world’s problems.

One of the tragedies resulting from the “brain-washing” of the American people is in deceiving them that they are the greatest nation of earth that their way of life is the model all nations should follow. The leadership claims that democracy is the form of governments all nations should adopt. America is the “land of freedom”, yet the majority of American’s are under bondage to an economic system that has enslaved them.

Yet many America’s continue to deceive themselves into believing that God is blessing America. While they continue to sing “God Bless America” it is becoming increasingly clear that God is no longer blessing America. Rather, America is now being cursed because of its sins.

Why would God curse America when it still proclaims to be a Christian nation? Clearly God has blessed America in the past – why should these blessing now withdrawn and the nation be cursed. The reason why America is being cursed is because of the rejection of the legal code given to us by God through the Bible on how we are to live our lives, and be governed.

Let’s look at some of the reasons how and why America is being cursed today, which will shortly lead to its destruction.

1.. War – the mess America has got itself into in Iraq us a direct result
of the nation relying on its own military might and trying to resolve
international problems though force, rather than having the faith to trust God to defend them, as He promised if we keep His commandments. It will eventually result in the defeat of the USA, followed by its economic collapse.
2.. Economics – why has what once was the world’s richest nation now the world’s greatest debtor nation. America is now totally dependent on being able to attract capital from its former enemies to prevent its economy collapsing. When America’s former enemies are no longer prepared to lend the money to sustain the American economy will be the time its economy will collapse.
3.. Environmental – clearly the USA is now suffering the direct
consequences of the break-down of the global environment. No other nation has squandered its non-renewable resources as America has done. The rejection of environmental laws God has given mankind has directly resulted in the ecological disaster how planet now faces. Yet America’s leaders continue to live in denial that these problems exist, because the changes needed to be made would not be acceptable economically or politically. Yet unless these changes are made, natural disasters such as the recent hurricanes will continue to increase.
4.. Law and Order – continued break-down of moral standards and growth in the influence of drugs has resulted in an exploding prison population and growth is most types of crime. I was shocked to experience people being physically attacked and beaten while in the centre of Salt lake City in broad daylight when visiting this city.
5.. Care for the needy – I was amazed to see the numbers of homeless living on the streets in the USA. For a nation that has so much wealth, it is a shock to see so many poor people begging in the streets. This one does not see in Europe or New Zealand. There is something wrong with a society that does not provide care for those less fortunate.
6.. Divisions within American society – the opposition to the Iraqi War is now gaining moment, with public demonstrations against the occupation of Iraq throughout the USA. Unfortunately, the American people were lied to by their leaders, supported by the populist media (such as Fox News) and the Christian-right into supporting the invasion of Iraq in 2003. They have now are coming to realize how they were deceived. To withdraw the American forces from Iraq now would be an even worse disaster for the country than the illegal invasion was in the first place.
7.. Cost of living – as inflation increases, and real incomes declined,
many people are now struggling to exist. Increasing interest rates placing
additional burdens of the American consumer and industry. The standard of living will steadily decline as the national and consumer debts grow – a greater percentage of income is being required to service these debts, reducing disposable income. Taxation will continue to increase as the governments struggle with increasing domestic and military expenditure.
8.. America’s ability to defend itself – the War against Terrorism has
placed a considerable burden on the domestic economy, with little to show for it. For a visitor to the USA today one feels like one is entering the Soviet Union in the days of the Cold War. While Homeland Security is costing the American taxpayer billions of dollars, the military is being starved of resources for the equipment required to defend America.
9.. The destruction of America’s production base. America became great through exporting its goods, technology and services to the world. This ability of America to produce and export competitively is being under-mined, as more resources are being diverted into defense and the military. While Japan and Germany (both high-cost producing countries) continue to competitively increase their exports, American industry is no longer able compete internationally.
10.. The health of Americans – anyone visiting the USA is amazed with the number of over-weight people. Clearly something is wrong with the American diet. Maybe it is the hormones used in producing meat that is partly responsible. Where you have a society driven by greed, producing food for maximum profit, regardless of the consequences to the consumer, the result are a people often eating themselves to death, always lusting for more, and never satisfied.
The decline and coming collapse of the American Empire will be sudden and dramatic. It will reduce the USA to a land of poverty – its people will face horrendous tribulation. There will be total economic collapse. Money will become worthless. There will be a complete break-down in law and order – anarchy will reign. There will be wide-spread famine and disaster. Millions will die. What was once the richest country in the world will soon become the poorest nation in the world?

Then there comes the support for ChrisD's thesis, from one of our favorite left-leaning posters, Dharma, as if on queue:

'Nuff said Chris, looks like your point has been made and seconded!

This is classic Orwellian doublespeak. It’s hard to believe people could blindly follow or believe this nutcase.

Well, I for one am amazed and impressed with the level of intellectual discourse we on CaryPolitics are being treated to today, courtesy of the highly talented, if somewhat adversarial left. Certainly it must have taken many years of Wake County public schooling to have derived such an overwhelming slam dunk of a comment as to have gotten such a sophisticated response. Certainly the statistical analysis required, the peer reviews undergone, and the deep insights revealed are instructional and devastatingly perceptive. We are certainly all in debt academically to Dharma and Gracie for these revelations of enlightened thinking. We salute both of you!

Now I know why I cant find this guy, the article was written by "Bruce Porteous."
Do you even research the trash you post, or just being completely anti America is enough for you, no matter who writes it.

EXCUSE ME??????? The trash I READ? You MUST BE KIDDING? I see the one sided trash you post on a regular basis and do my best to ignore it. Everything you post is written by authors who are so far to the right that even the right has shunned them. David Horowitz is about he most hatefull human being to walk the planet. Nice try, Chris.

And no, I did NOT change the name of the author, Bobo. It came in a newslink I get from Reuters sometime last week. I read it and posted what I copied and pasted. It came from Reuters so I did not research it.
